Precious Christopher baby, you are TEN months old!
- Your biggest news this month is that you are WALKING! Starting at 9.5 months, you were standing up without holding onto anything, and then a couple days later you started taking your first tentative steps – first one, then two, now up to five or six. We have never had a walker this early! To be clear, crawling (fast!) is still your primary mode of transportation for mischief around the house, but your first steps have been taken!
- Speaking of mischief, you absolutely love the kitchen cabinets. We’ve now put rubber bands on the ones we can, but Daddy is working on a more permanent solution. There is one little cubby in the kitchen with no door on it where I keep cutting boards and cookie sheets, and you think it’s the greatest. You love pulling them all out and sitting on them. Your sisters think you’re getting ready to sled!
- One of your cutest habits you’ve begun this month is wrinkling up your precious little nose. You usually do it when you’re in a silly and giggly mood, but it can also be used to show displeasure. You sniff like a little bunny when you do it and it’s hilarious.
- I mentioned this last month, but you’re still a pretty loud baby. You seem to be rather fond of the sound of your own voice and I’m afraid the neighbors get to enjoy it quite regularly as well. Not that you cry a lot, you just yell!
- You love to eat. Mommy’s milk, yogurt, fruits/veggies, mashed up pumpkin or cut up bananas on your tray, crumbs on the floor, just about anything. Except biezpiens (kind of like cottage cheese). The doctor recommended trying that and you’re not a big fan. You pretty consistenly spit it right out.
- You have four precious little teeth now, the two front ones on the top and the bottom. We have had to have some conversations about biting (Mommy, Daddy, and your sisters have all been the recipients of said bites), but you respond pretty well to “no no!”
- You are Mommy’s boy. No question about it. The worst thing to ever happen in your little world is when Mommy leaves the room. You know the sound of the creak on the stairs or the closing of the gate at the top of the stairs and you know that it means Mommy is leaving you (even just for a moment). You don’t even have to be looking, but you hear it and it completely breaks your heart. Same thing when I shut the bathroom door. Or heaven forbid leave out the front door. But I always come back and everything is right in your world again.
- Having said that, if I do need to actually leave to go somewhere (women’s group for example), you hate it at first, but then you do pretty well with Daddy. He’s got some tricks up his sleeve that you really enjoy. You love it when he does is silly whistle with his hands, and you head straight to it. You also think it’s the best thing in the world when Daddy asks you if you want to “wrestle wrestle.” This just consists of you laying on his tummy and then him rolling you all over the living room floor, but you love it!
- You are quite the charmer. You love smiling and “talking” with everyone you meet. Everyone remarks that you’re such a “smaidīgs” and “priecīgs” baby (smiley and happy). And you are most of the time!
- You have now surpassed the 10kg mark and Mommy has the muscles to prove it. You are one big healthy boy!
- Your favorite toy/activity is still vacuuming the house. I pull it out and you head straight for it and love to help me push it along. Lucky for you, we have to use it a lot since we have dark floors and you find (and eat!) the most miniscule crumbs!
- You have such a special relationship with your sisters and love them all so much. They love to read to you, play peekaboo, encourage you to walk, and tote you around the house, of course.
Christopher baby, you are such a joy to every one of us. We are so very thankful for your little life and know God is going to do great things in you!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
